Are you gullible?

Most people understand that if they want to start a hot dog business, they will need to buy some equipment. You will need a stand, a fryer for the chips or French Fries or Freedom Fries or whatever. You will need to stock up a load of sausages and potatoes, mustard and mayonnaise, before you make a flipping penny. Right?

However, when it comes to internet business, so many think, they can build one with no set up costs. Not really their fault, so many gurus make it sound like the only expense is buying their product. Think!
Then you have all the billions of videos, all making it sound like a complete doddle, just buy my crap and you will become a millionaire in no time at all.
I know, I’ve bought a load of this rubbish myself, nice videos, nice pretty faces, honest looking faces, butter wouldn’t melt in their mouths.
Now, I’m not saying it’s all a load of bull, but what I am saying is that most of it is, go back to my Hot Dog example, any flaws there mates? No, If you want a business you will need to spend time and money, that’s right, it ain’t no lottery ticket, so if you aren’t ready to do it, fair enough, go work for someone else, get a job.
Once you enter the entrepreneurial world, all safety nets are removed and it’s You vs, You, nice and simple, that’s why so much is said about personal development, positive thinking etc. You can pooh pooh it as much as you like, but without the mindset, you’ve got nada, zilch, nothing.

Look, I don’t claim to have the gift of prophecy, but common sense is strongly in favor of strong and stronger Gold prices. The US Dollar which has been the world currency for ages, it coming under immense pressure, as are the Euro and The GB Pound. Although the tug of war between these 3 major currencies goes on, we can see that the Japanese Yen has risen significantly in the last 3 years. In fact the Japanese Yen is now almost 40% stronger than it was in 2002 and this is in spite of a very weak economy in Japan. The Australian Dollar has doubled against the US Dollar in the last 10 years and the Euro has also weakend against the Austrail Dollar by nearly 40% in the last 2 years. The Australian Dollar is one of the commodity related currencies and is doing well as Gold is doing so well too. However, the Australian Dollar will eventually suffer from the same flaws of the USD and other major currencies, as the recession shows no signs of abating and figures out of the US continue to disappoint. Any medium term forecast for equities, business confidence and the major currencies has got to be pretty bleak. That is why, for the medium (3-5 years) I am an investor in Gold Bullion, none of the currencies are attractive in that time span, and the near zero interest rates makes them even less attractive. I hold Gold Futures, options and now beginning to accummulate Gold Bullion in a Swiss bank safe too, all in all if you take a look at the monthly Gold chart below you will see what I mean: What do you think? Know the Future?

There are now dozens of social plugins for WordPress, unsurprisingly, as social networks like Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, Linkedin and others become primarily bulletin boards for advertisers and marketers. It seems that our social life is intimately tied in with marketing, advertising and the hyping of products and services.

Of course, this brings into question the viability of these networks as social networks, and perhaps it’s a good thing, a phenomenon that will take us back to proper social interaction. I mean, if you have 5000 friends on Facebook, what does it say about the word ‘friend’?  It has no meaning whatsoever in this context, a friend is someone I can sell something to, simple.

That said, if you are in the business of Network Marketing, it would be foolish not to take advantage of these free marketing bulletin boards, so the question is how to do it best?

Well, here are a few things that I’ve learned along the way:

1. Offer unique and decent content about your business opportunity.
2. provide useful tips about how to promote the opportunity.
3. Engage your friends/business associates in conversation.
4. Be genuine, no matter how sweetly you smile, people will always know your true intention.
5. Treat everyone with respect, as you would have them treat you.
6. Set up Facebook groups that offer valuable content to your friends.
7. Connect your blog, the central unit of all your marketing to all social networks. Blog sharing is a great way to spread the word.

So, here are the plugins I use to link all these social sites together and allow easy referencing from one to the other:

Fixed social Buttons – This allows you to set a list of all the Social sites you have your profile on and allows the viewer to quickly see your profile and follow you. On your blog it looks like this

TweetMeme Retweet Button This plugin simply allows viewers who like your content to retweet it to their followers and their followers can then retweet it to their followers, creating a viral effect.

Simple Facebook Share Button Same as the Twtter button above but will post it to the viewers wall in Facebook, once again you get a viral affect as if it’s liked it will be shared outside of your own friend list.

OnlyWire for WordPress This plugin automates the submission of your status and website links to 43 top social media sites. The beauty of it is that once you set up an account with Onlywire.com and download a desktop application, you can submit your post immediately and automatically to 43 social sites, this is very powerful and does not require a visit to each site (like  Facebook, Bebo, Twitter Friendfeed etc).

AddToAny: Share/Bookmark/Email Button This plugin allows your viewers to select any Social bookmarking site and bookmark your post, this of course brings in more traffic and spreads your word around.

The final Social Plugin I use is a Wibiya - This a tool bar which is shown flowting at the bottom of your blog, it contains links Social networks, recent posts, Facebook Like button and others, The beauty of it, is that it appears as the bottom of the screen, and is both highly visible and unontrusive. I really like this one.

All of these are free, some have paid versions and some ask for a donation (non mandatory), I use the free versions and will consider upgrades of some if and when necessary.

Youtube Call To Action Overlay  – How to get a clickable logo on your Video?

If you don’t know what I am talking about, go to this short video and you will see a Golden Buddha Statue with a call to action (lol) on the bottom of the video, he will then head off and come back at the end of the video. If you click on the Budha you will be taken to a website.

Ok, this is how you set it up. Of course you will need a Youtube account, you will also need an Adwords account, however, this setup will not cost you a thing, and although I did have a balance in my Adwords account, I am not sure if you need one at all, if you do, you can simply deposit the minimum.

Here are the steps:

1. Go to https://ads.youtube.com and Sign in to Youtube from there. (the message says that is only available to users in the US. I am in the UK and had no problem setting it up, weird).
2. Once in there, click on ‘Create a promotion’.
3. A list of your videos will appear, either select one or upload a new one.
4. Read the T&C of course and click Agree and Next.
5. Write your promotion, same as you’d write a normal Adword promotion.
6. Click Next to enter your keywords.
7. Click Next and set your CPC (Cost per Click) – I set to £0.01
8. Click Next and Okay, run my promotion.
9. Now pause the Promotion.

Ok, Now log in to your Youtube account and go to the video you selected in the above process.

Click on Edit and you should see a Call-to-action Overlay form right below the video.

Fill it in, it’s self explanatory and now whenever your video is played it will contail the call to action and anyone who clicks on it will be taken to the destination URL you set in this form. See Picture below:

That’s it. Now just do it as they say. Ah, also make sure you Tweet and Facebook this post to keep the old love going

Email Marketing Tools

As any marketer knows, not all the emails sent to your list are opened by everyone, this is only natural as many people subscribe to many lists and will only open if the headline grabs their attention.
Also, some people may be away or simply in a bad mood and your hard work using the best email marketing tools is wasted.
Now you can both resend and you can also find out exactly who is not opening your emails.

The video below is simply a technical explanation of how to resend a message to those who did not open it. It applies to the Aweber autoresponder only. Use your Email marketing skills to change the headline or add too the email, too test if you get a better response. My experiece is that you can squeeze more opens and more clicks by using this method, assuming of course that you have a good email.

The reason you don’t want to resend it to those who have already opened it, even if you do change the subject is that they may annoy them and they will unsubscribe. You know how annoying a repeat email can be.
